Concerts of Praise
A Jubilant Jubilee Beginning in Albany

A review by Dr. David Benke, followed by photos

On January 29, 2006, approximately 1000 of us gathered in the New York State Convention Center as the Centennial Jubilee of the Atlantic District got off to a great start! Here’s what I wrote to the music leaders by way of saying thanks

“As Dr. Schultz has indicated in his thanks to all of you for your portion of the event, there were no weak points in this concert - everyone shone like stars. From my perspective, the variety of musical forms and styles, and the variety of performance modes all blended together in ways I hadn't thought possible. Rather than "listening" to a concert in the manner of an audience, all of us were involved actively in praising God throughout our time together - that was the seamless nature of the event - it was dedicated to the praise and honor of God. 1000 people were in attendance, and yet there really was only one voice at the Concert - it was 1000 hearts united in praise to a God of grace who has given us the precious gift of life eternal in Jesus Christ. Soli Deo Gloria!”

Dr. Schultz, of course, is Ralph Schultz, whose sterling leadership brought this event to pass. On February 12, the second Concert of Praise at the Cathedral in Garden City will bring the same unity of faith in a tremendous diversity of expression, as coordinated by Pastor Dien Ashley Taylor. The praise of God is the most natural response to grace that can be imagined, isn’t it? Praise God daily and richly!
