Lutheran Friends of the Deaf Receives Grant- by Mary McKenna, Marketing Comm. CoordinatorMillneck Foundation April 30, 2010 at 10:28 AM Lutheran Friends of the Deaf (LFD) was recognized by Long Island Lutheran Middle and High School (LuHi) with a grant from the Lutheran Crusader Fund during an on-campus chapel service on Tuesday, April 20. Provided by an anonymous donor in 1998, a generous $1 million contribution enabled LuHi to establish the fund, the focus of which is the creation and enhancement of innovative programs that benefit Christian institutions and support people and organizations in times of significant crisis or need. To date, over $1,300,000 has been awarded to 300 deserving organizations through the Lutheran Crusader Fund.
Located on a 32-acre campus in Brookville, Long Island Lutheran Middle and High School is a Christ-centered, college preparatory school whose mission is to educate its students in body, mind and spirit. Recognized by the US Department of Education as a “School of Excellence,” LuHi serves 612 students in grades 6 through 12.
